Services

Therapies and Certifications

Fascial Stretch Therapy

Manual and assisted system of stretching targeting joints and deep tissue layers. Stretching the fascia – a sensitive connective tissue that covers every part of the body – relieves tension, relaxes the nervous system and increases mobility.

Fascial Cupping & Decompression

Assisted soft tissue release through use of mechanical suction. Improves mobility, circulation, lymphatic flow and can help relieve pain and discomfort.

Functional Movement Technique & Taping

Provides support and stability to the muscles and joints without restricting motion to facilitate the natural healing process.

Instrument Assisted & Manual Soft Tissue Release

Techniques used to alleviate muscle tension, reduce pain, and improve mobility. These methods involve using specialized tools (instrument assisted) or hands-on techniques (manual) to apply targeted pressure and movements to the soft tissues, such as muscles, fascia, and tendons.

Neurological re-patterning & re-education

neurological re-patterning and neuroscience reveals the underlying structure and function of the human brain and nervous system focussing on how we process our experience and direct our lives.

Neuro-stimulation (via mps)

MPS therapy is used to treat chronic and acute soft tissue pain and scars in an all-natural, drug-free way. This is done by applying microcurrent impulses to trigger acupuncture points, providing quick and effective pain relief for a number of medical conditions.

Vagal Nerve Regulation

The vagus nerve, or vagal nerves, regulate our parasympathetic nervous system and heavily influences the immune system, reflexes and heart rate. Damage or stress to the vagus nerve could severely impact both your physical and mental health. Vagal nerve regulation involves utilizing electrical impulses, manual techniques and exercise to help up-regulate or down-regulate the nervous system.

Peripheral Neuropathy Reduction

Peripheral neuropathy refers to damage to the nerves located in the limbs and is often felt in the hands and feet. It may be caused by traumatic injuries, infections, diabetes, chemotherapy and radiation.

Neuro-muscular Activation

Neuromuscular activation is a term used by physical therapists working to strengthening the brain to muscle connection. This brain to muscle connection happens naturally within the neuromuscular system when the nervous system (neural) and the muscular system (muscular) are working together effectively.

Scar Release Therapy

Post-Surgical/Wound Scar Tissue Healing using Microcurrent Point Stimulation (MPS) and the latest scientific advances to address both chronic pain and dermal scarring that occurs post-trauma or surgery.

Neuro-muscular Conditioning

Neuromuscular activation is a term used by physical therapists working to strengthening the brain to muscle connection. This brain to muscle connection happens naturally within the neuromuscular system when the nervous system (neural) and the muscular system (muscular) are working together effectively.

lymphatic restoration

Utilization of manual techniques and MPS protocols to improve circulation and lymph flow. This improves functionality, movement of the tissue and can decrease pain.

Kind Words From Clients

Riaz possesses a combination of skills:  empathy, understanding, analytical and an expertise in myriad areas of physical health, fitness and wellbeing.   He appreciates the need to meet a client at his/her level of health and ability and to stretch those conditions and capabilities in reasonable, incremental ways.  I am in my late 70’s and have been working with Riaz for over 13 years, beginning after hurting myself at work and needing help to repair a particular problem. After seeing many other practitioners without success for this problem, I was referred to Riaz, and I have been connected to him ever since. Since that time, we have worked together, during and after my treatment for cancer, where he provided me with coaching and guidance that showed me how to manage within my body’s capabilities, and yet improve my strength and mental attitude towards coping, recovering, getting better, getting healthier, and getting stronger.  His understanding of exactly what I needed and how to implement everything while going through cancer still astounds me. This is a big deal for someone experiencing all of the trauma that cancer dishes out.   After treatment, he has been invaluable resource for me adjusting my exercise programs, on a regular basis, monitoring me, and thus helping me further improve my health.  It is now several years later and, as we continue to work together, I can probably boast that I don’t think I look or feel my “advanced” age.   I am happy and honoured to recommend Riaz. I have been a client of Riaz’s for over 7 years.  In this time Riaz has been able to guide me to reactivate muscles and regain functionality in my legs, hips, lower and middle back and neck. Previous to working with Riaz I attended regular chiropractic and massage therapy sessions which were able to maintain movement but did not create much improvement in my ability to move.  Whatever improvement I gained was lost between sessions.  Physiotherapy treatments, by at least 4 different physiotherapists, did not work and I was fast encouraged to look elsewhere for treatment. Riaz’s work has been my only experience of actual improvement, in both movement and daily pain reduction.  Through his soft tissue work, neurological and muscle activation, positive change has not only been possible but achievable.  Under Riaz’s guidance I have been relearning how to move, get stronger and enjoy my life again.  I had no idea of how complex the body is until I experienced this relearning or neurological re-education. And every newly pain free bend or movement reminds me of just how much knowledge and skill Riaz has of how the body is designed to operate.  To be able to break down dysfunction, without breaking me down, then rebuild the correct functional movement pattern is a unique skill I have searched all my adult life for.  And his attentive, empathetic, caring approach to his clients is also a very welcome change from my experience of previously unsuccessful practitioners. I am pleased to recommend Riaz and truly believe more attention to his approach would be beneficial to our society in a measurable fashion.

I had worked with many different professionals before I met Riaz. They were uninspiring, and I grew bored with them. With Riaz, my sessions are the complete opposite. I have worked with him for over a decade and I still look forward to each session. He is creative and is easily able to adapt my sessions on a needs basis. He has an idea what he wants to accomplish but will modify it according to my limitations on any given day. I have a brain injury from a car accident in 1984. My neurological system, balance, stability and even muscle activation does not work normally. Riaz often has me do exercises to promote neurological health. He’s been able to work with and rehab me through broken wrists, knee injuries, allergic infections, neck and back injuries and foot surgeries. I trust that he only suggests I do exercises that he knows I can complete, even if I don’t believe it. I, and his other clients, have benefitted from his thirst to expand his knowledge and skills. I am amazed at how far I’ve come and what I can do in the gym and in my day to day life. This is particularly important since I have a young grandson who wants me to play on the floor one minute and then stand and carry him the next. I will give up many appointments in my calendar, but I hate losing my sessions with Riaz. Riaz is a shining example of what a coach/ rehab professional should be. I can think of no better person to recommend. Marney O.
